Honouring the Life and Legacy of Shaykh Dr. Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih, OON

With deep respect and submission to the will of Allah, we announce the passing on of  Shaykh Dr. Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih, OON, the 12th Chief Imam of the Ilorin Emirate, who returned to his Lord on Monday, January 19, 2026, at the age of 75.

Shaykh Dr. Muhammad Bashir Imam Solih was appointed Chief Imam in 1983, a position he held with distinction for over four decades. Throughout his lifetime, he served as a pillar of spiritual guidance, moral leadership, and Islamic scholarship, dedicating himself to the preservation of faith, the promotion of unity, and the nurturing of generations through knowledge and example.

He was widely respected for his humility, discipline, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to the teachings of Islam. His leadership extended beyond the pulpit, influencing religious thought, community harmony, and spiritual development within Ilorin and across Nigeria.

In recognition of his service to religion and nation, he was conferred with the Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON) in 2012, an honour that reflected his enduring contributions to society.
